The GA Fes 2021 event announced a fourth season for the Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) anime series on Sunday. The new season will debut in 2022.

The anime series, abbreviated as DanMachi, adapts Fujino Omori's adventure fantasy light novel, which he originally submitted for the 4th GA Bunko Award in 2012 and received a publication offer. SB Creative began publishing the novel with illustrations by Suzuhito Yasuda in January 2013 and released the 16th volume on October 14. DanMachi has a cumulative 12 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Young Gangan began serializing a manga adaptation by Kunieda in August 2013. Taisei Yagami began drawing a second manga adaptation in December 2019. Square Enix published the first volume last July.

J.C.Staff adapted the light novel into a 13-episode anime series in Spring 2015, followed by the 12-episode second season in Summer 2019. The first OVA was released in December 2016, and a second OVA followed on January 29 last year. The Orion no Ya side story anime film opened in Japan in February 2019. The third and latest season aired in 12 episodes in Fall 2020. A third OVA is scheduled to be released on April 28.

The studio also produced a 12-episode television anime of Omori and illustrator Kiyotaka Haimura's Sword Oratoria side-story novel in Spring 2017, adapting the first four volumes. SB Creative published the 12th volume in July 2019. Square Enix released the 17th compiled volume of Takashi Yagi's manga adaptation on November 21.
