Natsume Yuujinchou' Receives New Episodes for Spring 2021
The Natsume Yuujinchou: Saikai no Tayori livestream program on Niconico announced two new anime episodes adapting Yuki Midorikawa's slice of life supernatural manga on Friday. The cast and staff members will be returning from the previous installations. The new episodes are scheduled to premiere in theaters in early Spring 2021.
Returning staff at animation studio Shuka include Takahiro Oomori (Hotarubi no Mori e) as the chief director and scriptwriter, and Hideki Itou (Gakusen Toshi Asterisk chief animation director) as the director. Sadayuki Murai (Pet) is co-writing the script, and Makoto Yoshimori (Kuragehime) is composing the music.
Brain's Base adapted the manga into four anime seasons in Summer 2008, Winter 2009, Summer 2011, and Winter 2012. The fifth and sixth seasons produced by animation studio Shuka aired in Fall 2016 and Spring 2017. The Natsume Yuujinchou: Utsusemi ni Musubu (Natsume's Book of Friends the Movie: Ephemeral Bond) anime film opened in Japan in September 2018.
Midorikawa began serializing the manga in LaLa DX magazine in 2003 before switching to LaLa in 2008. Hakusensha published the 25th compiled volume on June 5.
VIZ Media licensed the manga in English under their Shojo Beat imprint in 2010 and published the 24th volume on June 2.
